Health PEI Board
We are committed to being open and accountableResponsibility for the delivery of all Prince Edward Island health services was transferred to Health PEI and its Board of Directors on July 6, 2010 (at right). Honourable Carolyn Bertram, Minister of Health and Wellness, signed the directive at Health PEI's first official board meeting at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (read the Health Services Act).
Board members oversee operations, works with management to establish overall strategic direction for the organization and ensures appropriate community consultation. The board also regularly reviews the organization’s long-term plans, significant issues affecting the organization and evaluates results.
Who appoints the board?
Board members are appointed for three-year terms by the Minister of Health and Wellness. Members of the Health PEI Board represent various community perspectives and bring together the broad combination of skills, knowledge, experience and competencies necessary to govern our province's One Island Health System.
How does the board operate?
The Board of Directors Governance Policies defines how the board conducts its business and its governance rules and practices.
How to participate in board meetings?
The Health PEI Board of Directors continually seeks information that can help the board in its role as the governing body of Health PEI.
Public presentations are heard at selected board meetings throughout the year. Any group or individual wishing to be considered should apply in writing to the board two weeks before the preferred date of the presentation. The board generally meets the first Tuesday of each month. Learn more on how to participate and apply.

Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of Health PEI is held every fall. Islanders are welcome to attend in person or join the conversation online.
