Health centres bring together family physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and other providers who collaborate to deliver first point of contact services to residents in certain areas of the province within the health system. Principle clients are individuals and families within the geographic area that are registered with a centre for primary care services.

Principle services include primary care for a full range of acute and chronic illnesses with an emphasis on diagnosis and treatment, health promotion through education, illness prevention and chronic disease management.
