Asthma Education Centre
The goal of the Asthma Education Centre(AEC) is to educate people with asthma about their condition and help them control and manage their symptoms. When you or your child is referred to the AEC by your Family Physician, Specialist or Emergency Room Physician, you will see a Nurse and a Respiratory Therapist to receive individual counselling and asthma management. You may come for one visit or perhaps two or three. The education is individualized according to your need.
Throughout the treatment, your regular doctor will manage your asthma. He or she is an active member of the centre's team and will be kept up-to-date on your progress, on an ongoing basis by the Asthma Education Centre staff. Services provided by the Asthma Education Centre are covered by Medicare. The centre's services are currently only available in Queens and Kings County's of PEI.
