Visiting Guidelines and Hours (PCH)
Prince County Hospital recognizes the value of family and friends in the healing process. Family and close friends, in good health, including children accompanied by an adult, are welcome to visit during visiting hours or as arranged to accommodate patient and family needs. We respect our patients’ rights to restrict or refuse visitors. Our guidelines are designed to balance the patients need for rest, need for visitors and the health care team’s responsibilities to provide timely treatments and procedures.
We ask that you please adhere to the following visiting guidelines and visiting hours:
| |
- Anyone recently exposed to a communicable disease (such as chicken pox, measles, whooping cough) or feeling unwell should not visit. This will help to protect our patients and staff from contracting any germs you may have.
|
| |
- Visitors must follow all restrictions posted on a patient's door, including all isolation precautions indicated (ie. masks and gowns). Before entering the room, please check with nursing staff if you are not clear.
|
| |
- Everyone must use the hand sanitizer provided to wash their hands upon entry and leaving the hospital. This will help us to decrease the spread of germs throughout the Hospital.
|
| |
- We request no more than two (2) visitors with a patient at one time. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult, however, some restrictions apply on specialized units. Please make your visits brief (15 minutes) and leave promptly at the end of visiting hours. Visitors may be asked to leave the room during treatments or examinations.
|
| |
- Friends and family share in the responsibility of monitoring the number and frequency of visits so the patient is able to get enough rest. Designate one (1) or two (2) people to visit on behalf of family and friends. In certain situations, patients may need to appoint a member of the family or close friend as a spokesperson to disseminate information to other concerned family members and friends. Patients will inform their care provider who their contact person will be and where he or she can be reached.
|
| |
- Food is not always an appropriate gift. Dietary restrictions or allergies may apply. Please ask the patient’s care provider about dietary restrictions before bringing any food or drink to a patient.
|
| |
- Smoking is not allowed in the Hospital or on hospital grounds including inside vehicles.
|
| |
- PCH strives to be scent free. Please refrain from using scented products during your visit.
|
| |
- Due to severe allergies, highly scented flowers are not permitted within PCH.
Floral arrangements must be “hospital approved” with one of the local floral shops. Cut flowers from personal gardens are not permitted. Our volunteers at the front desk in the lobby will receive and deliver all “hospital approved” floral arrangements. |
