Prioritization of Ultrasound Tests:
Each request for ultrasound is assessed by a radiologist to determine the urgency of the request and then is booked as follows:

Emergency patients:
Urgent patients:
Semi-urgent patients:
Non-urgent (or routine) patients:
Done within 24-48 hours.
Done within 14 days.
Done within 28 days.
Done within 84 days.         

On average, you can expect to wait:*
Emergency patients:
Urgent patients:
Semi-urgent patients:
Non-urgent (or routine) patients:
Done immediately.
Average wait of 13 days.
Average wait of 38 days.
Average wait of 43 days.



* This estimate is based on data collected from the latest period January 2013 to March 2013 from the RISPACS System.  Data exclusions are: emergencies, inpatients, pre-booked routine and routine pre-natal obstetrical ultrasounds performed at 18-20 weeks gestation.
