Palliative Care is the combination of active and compassionate therapies intended to comfort and support individuals who are living with or dying from a progressive life threatening illness, their families and the bereaved.

The goal of the Provincial Integrated Palliative Care Program is to enhance client and family quality of life through access to trained, qualified health care teams in the most appropriate setting including the home, long-term care, community care facilities, palliative care units, and palliative care beds in an acute care setting.


How to access this service:
Access to palliative care services is coordinated through Home Care offices throughout PEI. Care may include medical, nursing and other professional care for pain and symptom management; respite care; emotional support; spiritual support; counseling; and ongoing bereavement support after death of a loved one.
