What if I need emergency care?
If you or someone in your care has an urgent medical condition or is experiencing a health crisis, emergency services are available at Western Hospital from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. as a Collaborative Emergency Centre, or you can call 9-1-1 for assistance.

Learn more about Visiting the Emergency Department.

What is a Collaborative Emergency Centre?
A Collaborative Emergency Centre (CEC) is an innovative way to improve access to both primary health care and emergency care. A CEC team includes paramedics with Advanced Life Support training and emergency nurses who will provide urgent care assessment in consultation with an on-call emergency physician.

What medical services can I access?
Western Hospital provides laboratory, diagnostic imaging, pharmacy, physiotherapy, dialysis and nutrition counseling.

Visiting consultants offer clinics in geriatrics, psychiatry and pap screening.

When can I visit a patient?
Visitors play an important supportive role in meeting a patient’s needs during their care in hospital. General visiting hours and guidelines help balance a patient’s need for visitors and the health care team’s responsibility to provide timely treatments and procedures. At certain times, special temporary restrictions may be added to ensure the hospital is a safe environment for patients, visitors and the health care team.

Daily visiting hours are:

11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  2:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
